One of my clients reached out to me with an error message “The Windows Search Engine is Currently Disabled” when they were trying to search in Outlook. I found this strange, but then found out another IT support tech was working on the users machine last week. They were working on resolving some disk space issues with a large Windows .edb file.

After brewing a great cup of Catuai coffee from Latin America I decided to take on this one. To solve this one, you have to launch the services.msc console. You can start it in Windows > Windows logo > type services.msc > make sure you run it was Administrator.
Locate the Windows Search service. You can double click or right click and go to Properties. Then go to the General tab and make the changes below:

The service should be set to Automatic and then Start it. The services status should be Running.
The Windows Search Engine is Currently Disabled. Is one of many issues I have experienced with Windows services in general.
If you like my work and want to support me consider shopping one of my T-Shirts and/or coffee mugs designs. My shop is here. I create my own designs. Thanks!
