Network Resource is still in use docker compose

I got this error Network Resource is still in use docker compose while I tried to run:

docker compose down

This issue was tricky, because I have run the above command so many times without any issues. Also, I think docker went ‘crazy’ on my macOS machine. I didn’t use docker for a while and there were some updates available and etc.

After taking a walk in Park avenue to see the Bruno Catalano Travelers sculpture exhibition I decided to take on this Docker issue.

In my case I had to run several things. First, I started by updating my Docker app. Then, I ran the below command:

docker-compose down --remove-orphans

That solved the issue for me. But, I noticed other options for solving this Network Resource is still in use docker compose error in case the above doesn’t work you can run:

docker stack rm <name of stack>

and then:

docker network rm <network name>

You may also need to restart your Docker app.
