My client kept getting the error “An encrypted connection to your mail server is not available” whenever trying to create a new profile for a shared inbox in Outlook. This used to work in the past, but seems like a new Outlook update broke this feature. After investigating and taking a break at the Greenacre Park in Manhattan I was able to find a solution.
Create a new Outlook profile new way
Quit Outlook first. Then:
- Right-click the Windows Start menu and choose Run.
- Type Outlook.exe /profiles and press OK.
- When Outlook starts, click New in the Choose Profile window to create a new profile.

Then, create a new profile:

Enter the account email address and press next. Then you need to change it by selecting “Sign in with another account”.

Next, enter the user’s that has permissions to the shared account:
username@yourDomain.comEnter the password for the above email account NOT the shared inbox. The shared account under the new profile will take a moment to populate.
